Journey to Glory

Be “Fruitful”   I quote again from Bruce Steffes MD book “Get Ready, Get Set, GO! Medical missions is not something we do, it is something God is doing, and we have the great privilege of participating in it. God is healing, God is redeeming,  God is changing lives! “Through God’s mercy, we have this ministry” (2 Cor 4:1). It is only by the mercy and the grace of God that He invites us to participate in ministry. It is a profound mystery but it is clear that we are the instruments God has chosen to rescue his people, to redeem his creation. “He has committed to us the message of reconciliation”(2 Cor 5:19).    What are we doing with the invitation of God and the message committed to us? Therein lies our only hope for fullness of joy, deep meaning, and freedom from all that would entangle us.   If the call of God for your life is medical missions, then you are among the most privileged. This post is a little lengthy!  It’s my prayer list. Where do I begin, where do I end?? I can only journey forward trusting that the Lord hears my prayers when what I am doing will glorify the Lord. This is confirmed in John 14:13  “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”.    I read a note in the Blue Letter Bible in a cross reference to Mark 5:43 that opened my perspective to prayer. After Jesus restored to life a young girl that was pronounced dead, the Lord “ charged them straitly that no man should know it, and commanded them that something should be given her to eat”.   The commentator provided an eye opening perspective to me. He shared that the Lord raised her to life by extraordinary power and restored her to complete health, now she must continue in existence by ordinary means. I am so excited to spend 70 days in Togo with this established mission.  I have learned along the way that we should share the wealth of the Blessings we each receive, thus I was all set to pay for it all on my own, yet it was brought to my attention that others may like to be part of the mission as well!  I learned that not all can go, but many are still led to pray and help with the costs.  So, IF you feel led to bless financially in this mission, these are the anticipated expenses that we can share in.  IF I receive more than I need, I will donate the rest to the Hospital of Hope.  http://hohmango.org There are always critical needs to be met! I am anticipating the 70 day mission trip to cost around $5000.00 These are the expenses: Hotel in Lome x2 with meals ~$150.00 Transportation to and from the hospital- 9 hour drive one way ~$1000.00 - I am hoping to be able to share that cost with other missionaries going at the same time. I just came across this reflection that I wrote in 2020?  I share as I see the hand of God woven through my life and it helps me to move forward with faith and courage!   There once was a girl who was shattered and broken from the sins of this world. She spun in circles trying to make sense out of life. She tried to make rational sense out of irrational behavior and could never find peace in the chaos, conflict and confusion.    And then she heard the gospel of Jesus. This was a message so filled with love that she had to learn more. She jumped in full force and started learning who this Jesus was and what/who he represented. In the midst, her own heart began to soften. She began to “see” people as souls running around in circles responding to a lost world. She not only saw the brokenness of her own soul, but of those who wove through her life each day.    She was so excited to learn of this new “worldview” and desired to share it with everyone, yet so few ...

It is “personal” because a short or long term mission trip requires a “right heart attitude”.   I knew my decision was between me and the Lord, but my heart had to be right.    In his book, “Medical Missions”, Bruce Steffes shares… “Proper preparation requires clarification of your call to go. Although it is usually not an audible voice of God, you must have a sense and conviction that God’s will for your life includes your proposed trip.
